When dark clouds move in on your mountain climb, you'll be ready with the Alpha SL Jacket.
When you want to be prepared for any weather in the mountains and weight is an issue, pack up the Arc'teryx Women's Alpha SL Jacket. Its Gore-Tex Paclite shell is waterproof so you'll stay dry even if you have to descend after one pitch, and it's breathable because you need a jacket that does both when you're working hard on a send or a summit. The nylon face fabric also stands up to wear and tear so a cam or a jagged rock won't weaken your defences.
The Alpha SL has an athletic, articulated fit that shapes to the contours of your body to improve mobility and decrease unwanted bulk and no-lift gusseted underarms that mean you can stretch and reach without the entire jacket lifting up. Its WaterTight zippers seal the underarm vents to decrease bulk as well as weight. The StormHood rotates with your head's turns for unblocked vision even when you wear a helmet. The hood also allows you to pack the jacket inside it and clip it to your harness when the sun pokes out. And the laminated hem line has an adjustable drawcord that cinches tightly when the winds start howling.

Alpha SL Jacket
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
I bought this jacket last spring intended for spring skiing, but it turned out to be much lighter than I had expected - it's more of a rain jacket type of material/weight. I still used it to ski on warm days with extra layers underneath and it was great! I use this jacket all of the time and bring it out almost every time I'm hiking when it gets windy and the sun begins to go down. I always keep it in my car just in case!
I have it in Heron, and it is such a beautiful color - I love this jacket! I bought a medium; I am 5'8 and about 160, and it fits great. Maybe could have gone with a large if I wanted to fit more layers, but the medium works out just fine.
