Gear up for an ambitious hike and scramble up and over your favorite mountain with the Arc\222teryx Aerios Daypack 14. With a lightweight and breathable design, this tough pack has room for your daily necessities, along with a few emergency items in case you get caught out after dark.
AeroForm backpanel maintains the loaded pack’s shape while it supplies cool air to your back
Spacermesh shoulder straps circulate air so your shoulders stay comfortable under pressure
External bungees compress the pack and hold a wet or bulky jacket
Elasticized hip-belt wears on the waist or higher on the abdomen so it doesn’t bounce around during rocky scrambles
Reflective blazes are visible to hooligans driving too fast on forest roads at night
Bottom Line: Make the mountain, and your hiking buddies, cry for mercy when you hike wearing the Aerios Daypack 14.
I've replaced my Mt Bike packs with the Arc'teryx Aerios 14, and am really happy with it. I tend to carry too much stuff when I ride and this size works great without being bulky and stiff. The back panel on this pack is made with a molded mesh that doesn't absorb moisture, and let's air flow freely. I actually felt a breeze blowing across my back on ridgelines. I can stop for a break, my wicking shirt dries fast and the back panel doesn't get me wet again as soon as I put it back on. The shoulder straps are perforated and also dry super quick and let heat escape-Sweet! This rig also has a nice frame with molded cross stays, so when I pack it full it, it stays flat and doesn't dig into my spine. The big mesh panel is great for quick access and the bungees work in a variety of configurations to compress the pack or carry a helmet. Dig it!

I just tried to stuff my 15" macbook in the pocket (which is 9" across) and it is just a bit too big. The distance between the seams of the pocket is 7". Your rig will definitely fit in the Axios 25 (as does mine).
This pack has great potential for both adventure race pack and bike pack. I've used for entier summer and found it very useful. The only downside is the side pockets - it doesn't have any mechanism to keep them shut, and due to the slick material anything (ie energy gel, gps, compass) will fly out. Not sure why Arc didn't add streach material to keep the pocket shut / use mesh instead. This is the only drawback. I'm retiring this pack now, since I got Axios 25 and Aerios 7 - Aerios 14 is too big for my running, and too small to be used on my travel needs.
Does inside sleeve inside hold a 3-liter water reservoir or bladder? How does the inside sleeve keep the water reservoir from slipping down the inside sleeve or hold the reservoir in place?
there is a pocket inside the Aerios 14 that will hold a 3 liter reservoir, and it keeps the bag in place. I slide the top of the pocket between the bag and fill handle and it keeps it upright perfectly.
it will hold your bladder. the only thing that holds it in place is compression from your other gear in the bag. but osprey makes a bladder with a semi-rigid panel in it that doesn't and won't slump. there may be other similar ones out there, but i own the osprey one and it's still going strong with no leaks after over a year and several hundred miles.
Does this just have the one external pocket on the top, or are there pockets on the sides as well? I know it only says one in the specs but another review I read said it had two side pockets, and some pictures of it make it look like this is the case.
The Aerios 14 has a big stretch mesh pocket on the front, 1 small zippered security pocket inside and two stretch mesh pockets on each bottom side. Also, a sleeve inside for a water reservoir.
For a small pack this design holds a ton of stuff. I use it for everyday, and as a carry on when flying which is deceiving since I can stuff everything except the computer in the pack. Very durable, I throw it around, no concerns, typical Arc'teryx. I really like the design, normally I like technical packs but this bag is a light version with a lot of room, expandable with the outside cord and big outside sleeve.

I used this pack for a fastpack trip into the Uintas. We took only what we needed for a very minimalist run in and out, with a planned overnight. It was just the right size to hold a lightweight sleeping bag, food, a down sweater, and extra pair of socks, but with all that it was packed super tight. I took two water bottles and a steripen for water - no bladder. With the pack so full, I couldn't get water bottles into the side pockets. An elastic or stretch material on these would be a much better design. As it was, I squeezed one bottle in one side and stuffed the other in the top front pocket. That worked ok, but as I was running over the uneven trail, the bottle fell out a few times. The other thing I'd change is the waist belt. It's very light elastic, so while it serves to keep the pack from flying around, it provides zero support. You carry all the weight on your shoulders. Not a huge deal because it's not made to carry heavy, but it did wear on me after about 30 miles. Overall, this is a sweet little pack. I really like it and would definitely recommend it.
Love this pack for mountain biking and trail running and anything in between. Fits so well don't realize it is on. The only thing that bounces is the water in the blatter. Stays cool and comfy all day. The draw strings detach and attach quickly making easy to lash helmets etc. Highly recommed this pack!
would love to see a pic of the part that goes against your back. Biggest complaint about riding my bike with a back pack is the sweat factor. So, how does it work?
Arc'teryx claims that the mesh packpanel is breathable to help wick away sweat. Check out the pictures from the product page on Arc'teryx's website. The 360 is especially helpful for viewing the packpanel.
I got the Arc'teryx Aerios Daypack 14 a couple months ago and it's been a great pack for me so far. It is super light, comfortable and holds much more stuff than I would have expected thanks to its external bungees. I pulled my hydration bladder from my old Camelbak, and dropped it into the Aerios 14 with no problem - there is plenty of room for an emergency rain shell, all my tools, pump, extra tubes, some snacks and my pads fit nicely under the external bungees. When I transferred all my equipment from my Camelbak, I thought I was just going to "test" it out as a mtb pack; however, now that I've used it for 15 rides I am convinced that the Aerios 14 is a great mountain bike pack.
