    Half style, all performance.

Button down some tech fabric with Arc'teryx Short-Sleeve Adventus Comp Shirt. Its clean style lends this collared shirt to mid-afternoon golf games, casual hikes, and everyday use. The smart Diem polyester is a super lightweight textile that dries quickly and stretches to keep up with your active day. In the underarms you'll find Phasic SL, one of the most hydrophobic knits on the market. It's composed of many polyester yarns that wick moisture laterally to dry quickly and polypropelene fibers with encapsulated silver ions that control odor for hours on end. A full snap front closure, zippered chest pocket, and laminated hem add to the shirt's clean look, while the UPF 50+ rating means it's not the end of the world if you forget your sunscreen at home.

    Arc'teryx Adventus Comp Shirt

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I was in search of a short-sleeve shirt for casual and travel wear and the occasional backpacking trip. The Arc'teryx Adventus Comp suited my needs on several fronts. It is 100% polyester (quick drying), it has a sun protection factor (SPF) of 50, it has mechanical stretch (i.e., no Spandex that may prolong the drying time) and it has Phasic SL underarm panels to assist in the dispersion of moisture. I ordered two shirts in the Iron Anvil and Azul colors. I recently washed the Azul shirt for the first time and was surprised to notice fabric pilling. The pilling was confined to the front and sides of the shirt near the bottom hem. The washer was a front loader (no agitator post) and the only other garment in the wash was another shirt that did not have any Velcro or any other feature that could have caused the pilling. was very responsive in exchanging the shirt for another one. I own two older Arc'teryx shirts that are 100% polyester and similarly styled (snap closures, single zippered chest pocket). These shirts have gone through several wash cycles without any evidence of pilling, so I don't know if the pilling on the Adventus Comp was an isolated incident or if it is indicative of a fabric change by Arc'teryx. I haven't had an opportunity to wash either Adventus Comp shirt since, but I'll either use the delicate cycle or resort to hand washing. That being said, if presentability and easy care are of prime importance to the prospective buyer, I would suggest that he pass on the Adventus Comp.

    Color and Stitching

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size

Really nice and comfortable shirt. But I had two problems. First, the stitching was snagged. Fortunately, Backcountry helped me with a refund. Second, I ordered the Azul. In the pictures, it looks a little purple. Which is kind of weird, since "azul" is a shade of blue. But the shirt that arrived was definitely blue, not purple. But the shirt that arrived is a nice shade of blue.

I am sure the stitching issue was just an anomaly. It seems like a great shirt. I just got a lemon.

    Classically Arc'teryx

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XL

I picked up some new collared shirts for work and this was one of them. I like the fit, It says "athletic fit" but seems to fit the same as my other Arc'teryx shirts which state "relaxed fit". It has the classic Arc'teryx chest zipper pocket and build quality. The material is great, reminds me of their base layer materials, super stretchy, smooth, breathes well and dries quickly . All the short sleeve Arc'teryx shirts I have are built with the classic boxy shoulder style; so when you move/lift your arm it kind of has that suit appearance as the shoulder stays boxy when you raise your arms. Under the arms is a different material, its a little darker than the rest of the shirt but doesn't distract or prevent me from wearing this in the corporate office. I like this shirt as an addition to my office attire, my Stoic Roam shirts have seen many wearings and needed a new rotation. The color is true in the BC picture, mine shows more blue... but its definitely more purple-ish. The Arc'teryx logo is printed between the shoulders on the back, it has snap buttons and this shirt says made in China.
