These are definitely great conversation starters! As for the practicality I love them, I have a fairly large head and often have problems finding wide enough sunglasses that wont put pressure on the side of my head, these are perfect as they are a little wider than most. They're also incredibly light, you can hardly feel them on. They're not going to let you look at the sun comfortably, but they do the job more than enough for driving and chilling out outside.
Plus the satin red looks insane!

They will shield your eyes from mild sun. Don't buy them if you need them for intense sunlight, I bought them because I moved to FL. Still, when I'm wearing them and the sun is really intense I need a more efficient set of frames.
