    Multi Purpose Floatant

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Frogs Fanny is some good stuff, I have used it in the past and have been pleased always. The obvious reason for me to get Frogs fanny is for its application with CDC dry flies.

CDC wont hold that silicon based gels that you traditionally use with hackled dry flies, it may in face hinder your ability to fish the dry effectively. This is where the powder comes in handy.

What i really like to do is use a small amount of gel floatant on my flies first and then dust it with the powder after. If the fly is a type of emerger with CDC than I will just dust the post or the shuck of the fly to help it float within the film.

    A Must Have

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Impossible to fish without this stuff. For anyone trying to fish dries, it must be on you. I use this in conjunction with gel/gink/aquel. It is applied secondly and reapplied as needed. It really brings the life back to the fly and is all you can use on some smaller CDC flies. Highly recommended! Snag some if you don't already have it.

    Great stuff

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

It's weird getting used to this at first, especially if you're used to the gel floatant. It's a powder that you brush on the fly and voila, it floats! I generally use it on wet flies because I find that gel tends to lock the moisture in. My only issue (if you can even call it that) is that it's a two handed application, one for holding the bottle, the other for holding the brush. Try it out, it's a great product!

    Powder

Love the white powder.. This stuff is great on CDC patterns and flies that have gotten eaten a few times and aren't staying afloat. I dumped a bottle of it into my dry shake container and I'll throw a wet fly in and shake it around and it'll last me a couple more fish. Love the stuff.

      Great for flies with CDC!

Frogs Fanny is great stuff. It is perfect for use on dry flies that use CDC. Regular gel floatants make CDC clump together and not look great, but Frogs Fanny just applies a light dry powder coating to it to help it float instead. It makes your fly look kinda funny at first because it is all white once you apply it, but that changes once your fly hits the water. Another great thing about this product is it works great when you apply it to already wet flies. Gel floatants will trap moisture in flies if they are already wet, but frogs fanny does a great job of keeping already wet flies floating well. Just be careful opening the lid on windy days, this powder is light and can blow away easy in the wind.
