An American made base layer built for high-mountain pursuits.

The American Mountain Co. Men's Gentlemen's Lightweight Hooded Moisture Wicking Sweater is designed to keep you moving fast through the high country while staying warm and dry. Polartec Power Dry fabric is highly breathable, and wicks moisture efficiently, so you don't get wet with sweat when pushing VO2 max in the high and cold alpine. The slim-fitting hood fits under a ski or climbing helmet, and the elastic-bound ribbed cuffs allow the piece to be easily layered under a shell once the skies turn grey.

    Lightweight and comfortable

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I first bought an American Mountain Co Gentleman's 307 mid-altitude soft-shell and was very impressed with the quality. Once I was in the market for a lightweight hoodie, I decided to try American Mountain Co again. I was not disappointed. It fits well, it's soft, it's warm but breathable, and it fits well.

    it works

Material is nice, it's basically the same as the patagonia R1 fleece material. Cut is nice. Looks good around town and in the mountains. I put this thing through hell this winter touring, alpine climbing, and spilling drinks on it at the bar. Durability is good, stitching is awesome and it washes well.

The dock in stars only come from a technical stand point. For standing around in the bar and looking like you might do something outdoors the hoodie gets 5 stars. From a technical standpoint and actually using the item in an active environment it gets 3 maybe 4. The henley buttons look cool but don't function super well. The top two or three buttons pop open through out the day when being active in the top. Also the cuffs soak up moisture and I think they weight more than the rest of the garment. They make hoodie stand out in the crowd, but impact the function of the garment negatively.

    Form fitting baselayer

    • Fit: Runs small

Outstanding quality, and the materials are chosen very well. Extremely stylish and fashion forward despite it being a tech layer piece. Im very impressed with the construction and style of this sweater.

Im 5'10" and 165 lbs. This shirt is pretty snug on me, which is perfect for a base layer on the slopes, but a bit odd for street wear. A medium would have worked better. And thats my only gripe.

EDIT: I originally bought a small and it was way to small. a medium is perfect for me at my size and dimensions. Fits like an athletic trim t-shirt.

I'm 6', 155. Should I go with a small or medium since it runs slightly small?
