Altra created the Women's Torin Running Shoe so you can run with the best technique and the highest level of comfort. Capable of covering miles of pavement or trail, this zero-drop shoe stands apart from the masses of 'natural' running shoes thanks to the its foot-shaped profile. This unique profile cups your heel allowing your toes to relax and spread out, and as a result, it helps maintain a proper foot position that helps to reduce forefoot pain and excessive pronation. On top of this, you get 15mm of soft cushioning and a fit specifically contoured to match a woman's foot from heel to toe (no shrink-it-and-pink-it here). Slide your foot inside the Torin and get the stability, cushioning, and stride-smoothness you need for daily running or cross training.

  • PFS2-W last offers a narrower heel, longer arch and narrower midfoot, and a higher instep than the men's SD3-M last
  • Quick Dry air mesh upper allows cool air to move across your foot, and it keeps this shoe lightweight
  • Shoe ships with two types of insoles: a 5mm thick, Sculpted insole for maximum support and a 3mm thick Strengthen insole for a more minimalist feel
  • Midsole uses 15mm of EVA to provide cushioning that reduces impact on your ankle and knees
  • Midsole features an Altrabound top layer that feels springy so the midsole returns energy to help you glide through your stride
  • Zero Drop Platform (0mm) features a 1:1 heel-to-forefoot height ratio, which means that your heel and forefoot sit exactly the same height from the ground
  • FootPod outsole is 4.5mm thick, offers moderate flexibility to complement the natural-running style of this shoe, and provides ample traction on road and off
  • Together, the midsole and outsole make for a 18mm stacked height from the surface of the ground to the bottom of your foot

Average shoe

I got these for my wife as a gift and she sin't sold on the shoe. She runs in Salomon's usually and couldn't come to love the Altras.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I have a pretty wide foot, i love the fit of keens and keep hoping that they will make a good running shoe. I got these because of the wide toe box and my husband has a pair that he loves. I always get a size 9 (even though i measure at about a size 8.5) i like the little bit of extra space at the end of my toes. I love the colors of this shoe, the arch support seems good for my higher arches and the cushioning is great?? but??. i had a problem with my foot sliding forward and hitting the end of the shoe while running or on the elliptical or even just walking around. I never thought i would complain about to much toe room but these seem to allow my foot to slide forward and bump the front which really bugs me because it happens every stride.

good shoe, good price

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

The shoe is lightweight, but offers a good deal of cushion. It has a wide toe box, which seems to be helpful if you suffer from plantar fasciitis. One downside is that it does not offer much traction for trail running, but I'm sure Altra has other models which would be more suitable. Still, I highly recommend it.

Cures Shin Splints

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I was suffering from multiple problems as a beginner runner. I'm sure that my stride and foot strike were totally incorrect, but I also had shin splints, knee pain and hip discomfort. The first day on these new shoes, I shaved 15 seconds off a mile and from step one, have had no pain whatsoever. My shin splints are completely gone. Today I shaved off another minute or so from my mile (this was my 10th-ish run on them). My stride is more consistent and my feet don't hurt at all. I really love these shoes!
