Slick Rock Sleeping Bag: 0 Degree Primaloft

Massively warm even in damp conditions, the PrimaLoft-insulated Slick Rock 0 Degree is a workhorse sleeping bag from ALPS Mountaineering. It\222s not ultra-light or hyper-compact like a pricey 800-fill down bag, but shoved in a ski tour pack or hiding in the back of your truck, the Slick Rock will save your ass from the cold like a champ, and it won\222t lose its loft in the wet.

Bottom Line: Hypothermia insurance.

I can honestly say that I have never been cold in this bag. The coldest night I've used it for was a February overnight on Monarch Pass, couldn't have been happier wearing only a single base layer. The Primaloft is great, because unlike down it does not pack out in the least. Mine is just as plush as the day that I bought it. It is also thick enough to provide a little extra cushion!

Also wet synthetic is miserable as any other wet garment or sleeping bag... don't believe the hype.

If you only go out in the really cold a few nights a year, and store the synthetic hanging uncompressed in a closet, it'll probably last a while. But down is still the champ for longevity, when cared for properly.

sorry to burst the bubble but down lasts way longer than synthetic if cared for properly. i think you're talking about synthetic's ability to insulate even when wet which down does not do. I have had several synthetic bags that after about a year of use start to lose loft and warmth. the synthetic insulation degrades pretty quick. that is why i recommend shelling out the loot and getting a down bag. quality.
