ALPS Mountaineering Navajo Sleeping Bag: 0 Degree Down - 2008 BCS

I've been using it just as a comforter and it works for that. This is my first down bag so of course it feels very warm especially around the torso where it should.

The included stuff sack is a real winner but it's not like other stuffies I've used. The webbing is not stitched into the sack and it cinches with itself. At first I was skeptical because you have to pull/push the bag between the webbings to get it in/out, because they cross on bottom and top, but after trying it out it works perfectly-- I compression-stuffed it in just 1-2 minutes the first time. The downside is that there are no fabric "caps" to perfectly shape the bundle, so you get soft corners sticking out between the webbing. This doesn't bother me the least. Even aftermarket sacks from "good" brands tend to fail frequently at the stitching. I can't see that ever being a problem with this wonderful simple design.

The bag did come with more than a dozen places where feathers are poking out. They don't fall out though, they seem pretty stable in limbo, and you get a lifetime warranty anyway.

The bag is light enough and compresses small enough that I won't be disappointed if it isn't the warmest zero out there-- it'll still be plenty warm for my winter AT trips.

Only used once since I got it a week ago, but I have to tell you I am impressed. I was so warm and comfortable, sleep like a baby all night. Can't wait to use it again
