    The cooler camping chair.

The Mesh Weekender is the hot-weather version of your favorite Alps Mountaineering Camp Seat. It has a cool, flow-through mesh center in the back panel that won’t make you sweaty or clammy in the summertime. Throw it on a bleacher bench for back support, or rock it by the fire while you tell tall tales.

Ok, but adjustment straps too short

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Like other reviewers, I found the straps did not provide enough adjustment. This is especially true after you use and abuse these and the seat stretches a bit. You want to be able to cinch it tighter. That said, they are a good deal and get the job done. I am thinking of doing some homemade sewing to fix them.

    perfect for summer concerts

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

One of the nice things about mountain life is the summer concert scene. I'm not a fan of those "chair as backpack" gizmos with the built in coolers and headrests etc. Too bulky in the back of the car and they have the bad habit of blocking the view of those behind. So the ALPS camp seat is a great solution. Easy to carry, light weight, and the mesh really does keep your lower back cool on a hot day. The only gripe I have (and hey this is genetic) is that my back side/hips are a bit beamy ... wish the chair was about 2 inches wider. But hey the price is right and it works fine.

On durability - I've used mine pretty heavily for a couple seasons and its held up just fine - no tears or rips

    Good but didn't keep

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The quality of the seat was good. The material is pretty thick and the stitching seems durable. It has a pocket in the back in addition to the mesh, which would be useful. I ended up returning the two I purchased, though, because I sat in one for about an hour while hanging out with some neighbors and the seat stretched out on me (to be expected as I'm 6'4" and 205#), but the straps are weird and limit the amount of tightening. So I kept feeling the need to compensate for the stretching of the material, but there wasn't any adjustment left. I actually thought about modifying the strap and shortening it, but an awesome friend got us a pair of Crazy Creek original camp chairs as a surprise, which have better adjustment and more of a nylon material rather than the ALPS' canvas type. So I sent them back. I'd imagine they'd work, but there are probably better options out there for the price.

    Good but didn't keep

    great for stadium seating

i found these to be more helpful in stadium seating, so that your bum doesn't hurt watching a football game or concert. it's great to lean back into the chair, too. my version is a bit older, no mesh, but it still works well!

      Not worth it

My friend had one by a different brand, I saw this on SaC and grabbed it. returned it, this thing doesn't work well at all. I'm incredibly not flexible so Sitting with my legs straight out does not make a perfect 90 degree angle easily. I;m a light guy (135) but this thing was uncomfortable and couldn't really support me. It would be fine with your back against something but otherwise... not my cup of tea.
Construction seemed really good and the green looks nice, product just wasn't for me.

More than just a camp seat...

Absolutely worth the price. Bought it for camping, but I end up using it as a chair inside more often than not. Makes a good bed-top chair for when you're banging out emails or blogging. At the moment, I have it pinned into the wall on top of a really old backless chair that I repurposed. Once these are back in stock I'll probably snag another to keep in the back of my truck. These are one of those items that always comes in handy.

          95%

This is a really nice little chair. It has the pocket in the back which I love - and the back is mesh to keep your back dry on hot days. The only problem is that the side straps are a bit too long (like an inch) I had to shorten them to make this chair work for me. Other than that I think this chair rocks!

The bottom would be resting on granite, gravel, whatever you find around lakes. What is the bottom of this one made of? I have a "lounge
lizard" that is over 30 years old and still works
great. I would like to get something similar for
            my son.
