The Alps Mountaineering Lightweight Series Air Pad proves that shaving weight doesn’t have to mean tossing and turning at night. Alps Mountaineering designed this torso-length pad with Jet Stream polyurethane open cell foam for speedy inflation and a comfortable, cushy feel. Non-slip fabrics stop you from sliding off your pad like it’s a gol-dang waterslide. The Lightweight Series Air Pad comes with a stuff sack, compression straps, and a repair kit.

Bottom Line: Shave weight. Rest easy.

A bit slippery but overall great to sleep on

The only complaint I have for this pad is that it is that is has a very slippery surface. I do however move a lot in my sleep I found myself sliding down just from sitting up. Other than that myself being new at camping it is quick to inflate and fairly comfortable.

The packed size is given as 4.5x21. Does this mean you can't

The packed size is given as 4.5x21. Does this mean you can't fold it in half lengthwise before rolling, like a thermarest prolite, to get a packed length of 11 inches?

I have the regular-length pad (not the short). I can fold it in half then roll it up, and it is about 8 X 11 inches. I'm not sure whether this affects the foam insulation, but technically it can be easily done.

my ALPS pad

This is such a great quality & comfy airpad... and a complete steal! I purchased the wider model and coupled it with the Therm-a-Rest Trekker chair which makes for some very comfy nights sitting around the campfire or hanging out with friends in the livingroom.

very good light weight pad

I used the pad on a hike at to Bright Angel Campground at the Grand Canyon. The pad is extremely light but offered good padding for a comfortable night's sleep. The valve on the pad works extremely well and made it easy to overpressure to add more firmness.
