Nice

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bought this for a car camping trip to Zions. Set up was quick and easy, the legs are slightly hard to get into their holes but set up for one took under five minutes on first attempt.
Much better than any air mattress I've slept on.

Not so much...

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Sleeps okay, but setting up is a pain. Wouldn't suggest this one.

Works Great

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Cot works just as you would hope. Pretty easy to assemble and comfy when combined with a pad. It is low to the ground though. Which is cool in a smaller tent but don't plan on keeping any gear underneath. It is light but not enough to pack in any major distance, especially over a mile or two.

too old to sleep on the ground!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

i love camping, but i'm too old to be sleeping on the ground! This cot is heaven sent! i've only used it maybe ten times this season, but i wake up happy and pain free. i've even used the cots on trips when i've stayed at friends house's...if you think sleeping in the dirt or a grassy patch is uncomfortable, try your buddies floor! anyways, the cot is not too heavy, packs down into a supplied carry bag, and is fairly easy to set up. young or old...save a back, buy a cot!

Good low cost cot

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I used this cot inside a two person tent during an overnight trail building weekend. It set up easily and was comfortable. It would be great for extra sleeping space in-home also. I leave the rails inside the canvas and just unhook the metal supports for fast setup and breakdown. In this configuration it will easily fit in the back of my small SUV, and takes a minimal amount of corner space in my spare closet at home. Very satisfied for the price.

Impossible to assemble.

This thing was absolutely impossible to assemble between an architect and a mechanical engineer trying to shove the rode in the sleeve. Cost 1/2 as much to return it as it cost in the outlet. Think this is my last purchase from backcountry.com.

Responded on

I meant rod, not rode. yes, this thing sucks as does the return policy.

Responded on

Backcountry has the best return policy I've ever seen.

Also, all the other non-engineer commenters seem to be able to put this thing together just fine, and if you can't with your advanced degree, what are you really saying??

Responded on

If you tried actually building some of the stuff you draw maybe you would have the sense to pot a simple cot together ;)

Explains why designs my engineers do are so stupid to put together, they don't know how things go together lol

This cot will need to be high enough to go over the wheel wells. How much room would I have, underneath the bottom of the tubing?
Thanks

Responded on

According to the ALPS website, this cot is 7.5" tall. I would assume that means to the sleeping surface, so to the bottom of the side rail would be lower.

Great for campground camping

First use on a weekend boy scout camp out and I can post positive results thus far. This cot is much lighter and less bulky than it's more structured relatives. The shallow 'w' shaped legs act in a spring like function providing more flex and better comfort than other cots we've owned. Two nights sleeping on this cot and my Tenderfoot didn't want to use his self-inflating pad atop it either night as he typically does with a more traditional camp cot. Assembly in the field was easy after only one practice effort at home. Lower height than our usual cots gave us more elbow room in our tent.
Follow up note: Months later we like it so much we now own four.

Great Lightweight cot!

This fits perfectly in the back of trucks that have 6 foot beds. The length on it is 74" and it is 30" wide. This combined with a sleeping pad of your choice, and camp pillow = good times

Great Lightweight cot!
Responded on

can you fit two side by side in the truck bed?

Responded on

you might run into problems with the wheel wells. The cot is 30" wide, and I believe the Tundra space between wheel wells is something like 42"

Responded on

That truck is my buddies F150, I have a 05 Tundra double cab. I believe you could fit two side by side. I'll check it out tonight...

Responded on

Thanks let me know please. I have a 07 tacoma regular cab

Responded on

Well if the cot is 30" wide and the space between the wheel wells is 42"- that means that 2 wouldn't fit side by side for a Tundra, seeing that the Tacoma has a smaller bed then the Tundra- I'd have to say that that would not work.
