The sheer amount of Mexican trinkets you could fit in the ALPS Mountaineering Cortez Backpack is staggering. This weeklong (3-6 day) backpack features over 80L of interior space, plush shoulder straps, and a supportive framesheet, so you could easily fit and carry at least 25 shot glasses, 10 ponchos, eight ceramic mugs, and two hammocks. Oh, and a sombrero. Although it might get squashed. ALPS Mountaineering added a lower zipper on the front for easy access to your souvenirs, a hydration sleeve for your tequila, and a front kangaroo pocket for whatever else you pick up south of the border.

Bottom Line: For some reason the Cortez makes us think of Mexico (but it's really just a great pack for extended trips).

Yes, this pack would work decent for that, but you may want to consider just a little bit more room. The GoLite Odyssey, at 5500-5800 ci. would be a fine choice, and only weighs 3.5 pounds.
