chocolatey goodness

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I enjoyed this dessert. It's quite rich. I think I may have been impatient and eaten it just a bit too early. I would make sure to let it sit for possibly a little longer than the recommended time, to give it ample time to really become set. Other than that it's great, if you really like chocolate.

Just ok

We saved this for a mid trip treat knowing we would love something sweet. It was a bit chalky with the consistency but the flavor was very chocolately! I'm giving it 3 stars but have to try it again and see if it improves. Sometimes there are variables that changes how things turn out. It was plenty for 2people after eating dinner!

I have had many desserts on the trail, from Good Old Raisins and Peanuts to chocolate covered raisins and beyond. The mudslide is up there with the best. Good flavor and easy to set up. I also recommend cold water.

Almost didn't try it after the apple blueberry fiasco. I would buy this again if I HAD to have something sweet in my pack but generally wouldn't add the additional weight

Slice of heaven for backpacking

I was very surprised at how tasty this is. It's pretty messy to eat, but tasted awesome. There are separate packs (included) of oreo crumbs and nuts to add to the top of what basically looks like chocolate pudding.

No Packaged Desserts Before . . . Will ALWAYS Take This!

No packaged, pasty taste here! Real chocolate flavor, great texture with added cookie crumbs and peanut brittle chips, and a big argument about who would lick the package when our spoons couldn't help us any more! Absolutely hit the spot on the AT in Shenandoah NP. We prepared it cold, but considered using hot water since we had 8 inches of snow on the ground. Never took dessert in a package like this before because of skepticism and indifference. Will always have this Alpine Aire dessert for future backpacking trips! Broke the monotony of M&Ms vs. Snickers.

Use cold water.

This stuff is fantastic. I really think using cold water is the way to go to get the consistency right. Cold water yields a light fluffy pudding feel. Try to avoid using room temp. water. It turned out quite runny with lumps. At least it has a killer flavor. Highly recommended.

Really good Dessert!

Okay, so we didn't follow the instructions exactly. We were freezing cold and wanted to get it over with, plus we wanted a warm desert instead of cold. The instructions say to do it cold but we could handle that. We added boiling water to the bag and mixed everything in. The texture was like thick pudding and the taste was really, really good! We'll try it using the instructions next time but either way it's gonna taste really good.

Now THIS is dessert!

This was DELICIOUS! It met every hungry expectation that we had.
