Thanks to the sidecut and full steel edges, the Alpina Tracker Ski embodies the true meaning of a cross country quiver. From freshly groomed track to the wide open backcountry, this ski takes you wherever the Nordic gods guide you. A non-wax Posi-grip base guarantees a stick-less glide from traversing through the driest powder to skating wet spring pack, which means you don’t have to wake up wondering what wax matches the moisture level in the day's snow.

Bottom Line: Extended tours that take preparation or spur-of-the-moment track runs—you’ll be ready with the Alpina Tracker Ski.

I replaced a pair of telemark skis (backcountry bindings) with these. I was tired of waxing. They are very soft in spring snow. Hard to imagine them pushing through deeper snow, downhill, or in the woods. I guess if you went with a longer variation you might get more float, vs bowing down. I thought they would be stiffer. I guess, thinking of return postage, they are mine for trail use. Nice edges, finish, scales.

What kind of binding would you put on the Alpina Tracker? Would a BC NNN work or would you need a heavier tele or AT binding?

I finally was able to use these bad boys and they are great! I live in North Idaho where there are several rolling hills and these handled the terrain excellently. More important, they seem to be really tough. I would definitely purchase another pair. In fact I may, my wife is really envious of my set. I say buy them if you can.

I'm 5ft 11in and 170. I have the 185 cm and they work great for me. That being said, I may direct toward the 195.

Either way, you won't regret it.

I'm looking for a cross country ski that can work on groomed

I'm looking for a cross country ski that can work on groomed track, and in the backcountry. Do you think this will fit the bill? It seems to have narrower dimensions (good for the track?), but does still have steel edges ... Or is there another ski that'd be better? I saw a Madshus Voss at a local shop that seemed good, but Backcountry.com doesn't seem to carry Madshus. Any help would be appreciated.

Based on the dimensions only (I have not skied them), they would be good on the track but not quite wide enough for deep snow.
