The Alpina Discovery Touring Ski is designed for skiers who want the float and stability of a wide waist but don't want to muscle big gunboats around in the snow. The Discovery features 3/4in metal edges to give bite where it's needed without excessive weight. It is designed to be used in slightly shorter lengths to make it easy to maneuver in the bush. A Posi-grip waxless base offers a reliable kick in all conditions. Proving that good things do come in small(ish) packages, the Discovery is waiting for you.

Bottom Line: Discover the wonders off-track.

Hi,I am interested in your skiis but worried that they may be

Hi,I am interested in your skiis but worried that they may be too long for me. I am 5'5 and weigh 169lbs. With a pack and clothes, my weight may go up 15 lbs. That puts me in the range of your 190 centimeter skiis, the same as my husband who is 6 feet 1 inch. Would you suggest the 190 skiis for necessary glide or do you think they will inhibit maneuverability? Thanks for your help, Maria

The NNN boots and bindings are a perfect companion for the Alpine Discovery. The NNN bindings are usually compatible with any ski with a minimum 52mm width.

I'm an advanced agressive downhill skier in reasonably good

I'm an advanced agressive downhill skier in reasonably good condition. I started XC a year ago by renting skis and skiing on forest roads or over snow mobile tracks when I can find them. I'm ready to buy and want a good ski for beaking new snow or sking on snowmobile packed trails. Is this a good ski or do you recommend something else? Thanks in advance

I have this ski Bill and it's just what you need. I use it to break trail and to climb various mountains here in Washington state. It's slightly wider than my old Fischer touring skis, which is nice when carrying a heavy pack and decending moderate to steep slopes. Really nice design, love the edges, and time will tell if they hold up like my 10 year old Fischer skis that finally started to delaminate after many climbs and much abuse. Just climbed Round Mt. (a six hour ski/snowshoe accent) and am off to the store for a well earned beer ~ happy skiing ~ Erik
