How to Choose All Mountain Skis

The one-ski quiver for anything on the mountain

As the name implies, the All Mountain ski is the daily driver of the ski lineup. Expect a traditional camber for good edge control in the hard pack and a medium waist width to handle a wide range of snow conditions. Most have at least a bit of rocker in order to better handle choppy conditions and give you a bit of lift when you head off the groomer and find some leftover powder. This is usually the ski of choice for first-time buyers, but nearly every seasoned skier will have a pair of all-mountain skis in the closet because they’re the most versatile choice out there.
