- Q & A
great pump, short warranty
Aire is a great company, and I am sure this is a great pump (not made by Aire, though) but please know that the warranty on this pump is only 1 year. Similar pumps by Carlson and Down River Equipment have 10 year warranties
This pump is a beast
I have an Aire tandem inflatable and this pump will have it inflated in no time at minimal effort. Best and most efficient pump I've personally used. Larger than you would anticipate, but well worth the extra size/space.
So far , so good
Haven't had it for long , but seems solid and works great for our 14' raft
This is the first raft pump I have owned although I have used many rentals over the years. It is very sturdy and seems capable of handling a lot of abuse. With it I can pump up our 14' Avon raft in a matter of minutes.
This pump blew my mind. I inflated the Aire Outfitter II Tandem Kayak in less than 5 minutes with one hand. I'm not too familiar with all the pumps on the market and their prices, but feel safe saying that this thing WAY surpassed my expectations!
This pump is great, however it's pretty large. It can pump up any inflatable toy know matter how big it is in the matter of minutes. It can also take a beating.
Burly, bombproof pump
WE bought this pump for our Strike 2 inflatable. Not only is this pump made from burly, sturdy plastic, it pumped up our 12foot 5inch inflatable kayak in about seven minutes. Your gearheads told us this pump was unstoppable and well worth the money. He was right. Don't mess around on the shore pumping your boat up all day, get out and paddle. This pump is worth every cent.
Is this really worth 5x the price of the...
Is this really worth 5x the price of the NRS pump (http://www.backcountry.com/store/NRS0042/NRS-Super-6-Wonder-Pump.html)? I mean even if I bust the NRS, I can buy 4 more and still be more cost effective.
The Aire 4 inch Barrel Pump is a great pump but is designed for inflating larger vessels such as full on river rafts. If you are just inflating a small kayak (such as http://www.backcountry.com/store/ARE0003/Aire-Lynx-I-Inflatable-Kayak.html) I would suggest something smaller (and cheaper) like:http://www.backcountry.com/store/NRS0043/NRS-Bravo-2-Foot-Pump.html?RSC_ID=WR_NRS0043
yes it is worth it - a good barrel pump will a) not break b) cut the time it takes to inflate the raft or kayak in 1/2 and c) get the boat harder - the NRS pump will not have enough power to put enough pressure in the boat (kayak or raft) to make it perform properly.
