Tested out waterproofing/breathability when I was in Southern Utah and I am very, very impressed by these boots. Not only were my feet completely dry from the water I stood in while taking multiple photos but there was also no sweat build up from the many hikes we went on.

They are very light weight and have a nice casual sneaker look so you barely think you are even wearing hiking boots. Tread is excellent so if you find yourself scrambling or on uneven surfaces you don't have to worry about slipping or losing your footing.

I definitely recommend these.

How deep was the water you used them in? I'm considering getting these to hike the Narrows in Zion this summer. Thoughts?

Braden Turner,

This picture was actually taken at the mouth of the Narrows in Zion. I only tested out the depth of the area inside the shoe that has a Gore-tex lining which is pretty much to the ball of your ankle. I would say that these paired with some Outdoor Research gaiters would be a great combo to keep youself dry while hiking in the Narrows.

Re: item #s.. ODR1087 and ODR1086
with the goretex on both of those gaiters they will stay waterproof as well as remain breathable so any sweat build up you get from that hot time of year will wick outside of the boots as well as the gaiters.

I hope this helps let me know if you have more questions.

Initial remarks

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Fits great, has a nice classic Adidas classic sneaker look. A bit narrow in the middle but great arch support. Speedlace is something I have to get used to but I am looking forward to putting these to the test on my upcoming trip to Zion.

I will update this review when I have put them to action

No need to be skeptical

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I was a little worried getting these, being Adidas, a brand not yet well known for performance outdoor gear. I must say that there appears to be no need for skepticism. The fast lace up system works like a charm. The ankle appears to be sturdy but not uncomfortable. Also, they are definitely bomber on the water-proofing and stylish as well. Give Adidas a shot with these. You'll be glad you did.

Just wanted to say that I had an EXCELLENT experience with Adidas' warranty department the other day. They are sending me a brand new speed lace system directly to my address at no charge.

Easy Break-in. Sneaker fit.

Great "fast pack shoe". I wouldn't load it down with 40+ lbs on a hike, but quick through, waterproof and light is how it excels. Looks good also (IMO).

Nicely done.

This is a great shoe. Fits my foot perfectly. Used to run long distance in Adidas running shoes so knew they made nice shoes. These are pretty well constructed to take the hits while hiking on rock and other debris. Water Proofness is what you would expect with goretex. Comfortable feel. Quickdraw lace is nice. Mid height helps keep out some of the elements better than a low normal cut.
