Description

Crossing streams doesn't have to require pit stops.

There is something unsettling about putting dry socks and shoes back on your wet feet after fording a stream. The amphibious Adidas Hydroterra Shandal Shoes move from land to water and back again, so you don't have to waste time taking your shoes on and off every time your trail hits the stream.
  • Single-layer mesh uppers are ultra-breathable and quick-drying, so wet feet dry fast
  • EVA footbed and sock liner provide cushioning and won't feel water-logged
  • Speed laces are secure and easy to adjust

Creek walkers and SUP riders

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I have used these shoes for many trips this summer. I specifically purchased them for Havasupai and walking through Havasu Creek. I did a bunch of water walkin' that trip and they worked well but they did wear hot spots on both sides of my feet just below the ankle bones. Not a game changer for me because I did walk so much(probably 10 miles in water). Very good shoe to swim in and walk around on slick rock. Very protective for the feet and toes. They dry out super quick. They tighten really well around the foot for a great fit(might be why they rubbed - because I had them too tight).

Another memorable trip that I used these on was a float down the Snake River outside of Jackson WY. It was my first time to SUP and these shoes were perfect for the Alpine stretch which has some class 3 rapids. Very stable and sticky on the deck of the SUP . For SUPin these shoes are ideal.

great shoe...one thing worth noting

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I have used this shoe many times over the summer. Great traction in the water. Very easy to get on and off, even when wet. Could wear them around town if you wanted. Dry pretty quickly and the insole comes out for faster drying. My only complaint is that the shoe doesn't have drainage all the way to the sole or bottom of the foot bed. This allows some water to stay in the shoe until you walk around a bit or shake your foot to get it out. Some other brands have drainage in the bottom or at least to the bottom of the foot bed. Overall the fit of these and the grip in the water makes the drainage problem not a very big deal. I Would say buy them!

Best-ever style & fit

Not a sandal guy but these shandals are terrific. Kayak-friendly, light weight, and cool on the dogs while offering solid support. The molded tongue. stays put and the elastic, one-pull fastener system snugs the shoe just right every time without laces hanging out everywhere.

Tim's review of "Shandal"

First of all, the best shoe I come across for water sports (I do canoe tripping) however, the mesh can be a little abrasive (think cheese grater) after awhile. I've been wearing a thin synthetic liner sock for comfort. For years, I've been wearing the Adidas Adventure Claw shoe for canoeing and hiking. Done with "big waffle stompers" ... blister makers! Yes, I have sensitive feet.

So, again, Adidas has come through again!

shmehh

Looks super cool. Work well on the river. But they didnt even last 1 season before they fell apart. Friend got the same pair and they didnt even last 2 months.

* I am a raft guide on the ocoee river; if you dont use and abuse your gear these might be okay for you.
