A small, easy-to-use locator beacon that you won't ever regret bringing along.

The world's wild and untamed lands draw you to their empty spaces, soft snow, and fish-filled waters. Serious solitude has its inherit risks, and the small, lightweight ACR ResQLink Plus 406 Personal Locator Beacon provides an instantaneous lifeline if you or your party get lost, injured, or stranded.
    • The 406MHz signal transmits through the fold-out antenna and then reaches two different GPS satellites to inform the closest rescue team of your location
    • Tough, waterproof (down to 5m) polycarbonate housing floats on the water if you're involved in an aquatic emergency
    • Bright LED strobe shines through darkness to alert rescuers
    • Test function lets you ensure your ResQLink easily syncs up with the satellites
    • Size and weight are similar to that of a cell phone, and it clips to backpacks and life vests so you won't be burdened by bringing it along
    • Comes with Class 2 lithium batteries (non-hazmat, in case you lose it in the river) and operates in almost any weather (-40F to 158F)
    • Once activated, the beacon transmits for at least 24 hours, depending on the temperature
    • Software enables you to check on your beacon's status with your smart phone
    • Item #ACR3146

My little peace of mind pod

Why pay money for subscription period devices? It's like bleeding money once a month.

Being not the type to status update Facebook from the mountain peak, I looked for the function only device. I paid once, I got the simple free service I wanted, with a smaller, more powerful signal, more sturdy, floating device. It confirms the message received also I believe, thankfully I haven't had to use it. But if I did, it looks like they'll replace it anyways...

Working in Search and Rescue, I know the Delorme and SPOT devices get the buttons pressed ALL the time accidentally. SPOT especially. This has a covered and recessed distress call button. Plus I never worry my battery will die and strand me with ResQlink. (Jeez I sound like a salesperson.)

Honestly I enjoy being able to relax in more wreckless redneck fun in the middle of no-where. Because I have free healthcare? No; but that helps. Rather because this little thing is with my group.

Small, light, can save your life

This is so much smaller and lighter than the original SARlink plb. This one is less of a decision of whether to take or not, because it is so light. I always bring it, because it doesn't weight that much, and you never know when you might need it.

To be clear, this device, the 406 plus, does not give nature of emergency, or state of user, or any personal information. It only transmits location to safety authorities. Other ACR devices have information subscription features.

However, in Canada, once registered on the official government system with your device, you may leave dated and prodated information on your group, trip, plan, equipment and more for use by authorities should you activate your device.
