ACCELERADE Sports Drink maximizes the energy dynamic during exercise to help you train longer and harder without feeling as sore afterwards. Like conventional sports drinks, ACCELERADE supplies the carbohydrates and electrolytes necessary for rehydrating and replenishing spent muscles. Unlike conventional sports drinks, ACCELERADE contains a patented 4 to 1 ratio of carbohydrate to protein. This speeds the movement of carefully balanced simple and complex carbohydrates into your muscles for rapid and sustained energy. ACCELERADE also contains essential antioxidants to reduce post-exercise muscle damage. With 60-servings of powder, you'll have enough performance-improving sports drink to last you at least two months.

Bottom Line: Hydrate with ACCELERADE Sports Drink and discover your muscles' true potential.

Not terrible!

By:
February 3, 2011

It works, performance-wise. The lemonade tastes like watered-down whey protein mixed with lemonade... which it basically is. Sugar and protein.

Whatever it is, I feel good during and after long rides, so I'm not complaining. Got it cheap off bonktown.

Great taste, great function

By:

This works great after long runs or hikes to replenish lost nutrients/minerals. Another thing that this was extremely useful for was masking the iodine taste in my water during week long treks. Not only did it refuel me, but it took the dread out of drinking iodine flavored water. Thumbs up.

FYI, sucrose is man-extracted "natural" sugar. It metabolizes quickly into glucose, which is what you want.

Sucrose: good for you.
Too much sucrose: will probably kill you.

Likewise,
Water: Keeps you alive
Too much water: Water intoxication. Kills you.

10x better than Gatorade

By:
December 3, 2008

Great tasting formula containing
Maltodextrin - much better option than sugar like most sport drinks and more easily digestiable carb
Vitimun E - great antioxidant
Whey protein - to accelerate muscle development and aid in recovery
Quick think - if your out for a long run or backcountry hiking Whey protein like milk can go sour so try to keep it cold or place the mix in zip lock bags. Enjoy.

Also make sure to serve it with very cold water. I find it makes it go down better. Chugging races with your work out partner helps too.

Just compared my Blue Raspberry powder (older) with the Mountain Berry powder on Accelerades web page, and they were the same, other then flavor of course. It also only has 56 servings instead of the 60 in the new packaging.

Great for sustained energy, and as recovery drink.

By:
March 6, 2008

Maybe I've bought into the marketing pseudo-science, but I could swear that on long endurance events (2 to 12 hours), I feel that I have more energy when I use drinks with protein added, like Accelerade. I also think this makes a really great recovery drink -- really handy for getting some protein in you fast after exercise. The only reason I wouldn't give this five stars is that IMHO, the drink is too acidic. I think they've concentrated too much on trying to make it taste good. That said, I have plenty of triathlete friends who use this all the time for both racing and training.

Great in training

By:
December 30, 2009

i used it during training for the Seattle to Portland, and for the Cape Cod Marathon. worked great during all my cycling endeavors, and my long runs. I read a complaint on the CC Marathon site complaining that Accelerade was terrible, turns out that the marathon staff was mixing it at about 1/20th strength.

uhhh, so yeah. works well. and im a heavy sweater.

Tasty and effective

By:
January 4, 2009

Tried this for summer road biking. Effective protein and electrolyte replenishing for endurance on long rides in the heat. Used during the ride for refreshment and again after for quick recovery. Very helpful on back-to-back day rides. Much better taste than other drinks of the same type. Different taste than typical Gatorade, but more effective for endurance and recovery. Have several containers of the Lemonade, but the other flavors I've tested are just as good. Highly recommend!

Accelerade is a godsend

By:
December 11, 2008

I used this stuff during workouts (2 two hour ones per day) and then used Endurox after one workout for recovery, and it worked like magic. When i used accelerade i still noticed a difference, performance was better (faster times) and more energy, and felt better after a work out. Only complaint is some flavors dont taste so good. I would get the blue stuff (blue raspberry I think) it tastes the best by far, not a big fan of the yellow-green or red, but they are still worth it, but I would recommend the blue. Get it its awesome!!!

Accelerade Sports Drink Review

By: Backcountry.com Employee
May 6, 2009

I have been a gatorade fan for the last 7 years and officially, the Accelerade Sports Drink has taken its place. The 4 to 1 ratio makes it great for a recovery drink, but this is the first recovery drink that I have had that tasted good enough to drink it on the run. I'll usually put a scoop in a 20 oz handheld before a trail-run, fill it with water, and be off.

I cannot say how all the flavors taste, but I have the orange flavor and it tastes sweet. Probably not the most tastiest drink, but unlike other sports drinks, this one doesn't make my stomach upset. I'd recommend this product to any of my friends looking for a sports drink and a recovery drink in the same container.

a bang worth the buck

By: Backcountry.com Employee

This has been my go to energy/recovery drink for my long workouts. Even though it seems expensive it is a better bargain than gatorade, powerade, or any other mainstream sport drink. Dollar for dollar you are getting a much better bargain with accelerade, its better for you with the 4:1 carbs to protein blend, and it tastes pretty good too.

Complete garbage, made me sick

By:
July 12, 2010

I keep well informed on sports nutrition and I usually do my research before picking a sports supplement, but I bought some of this on impulse when I needed some good fuel for a 12 hour mountain bike race.
BIG mistake, it gave me TERRIBLE gas (just ask my teammates and fellow racers within a 20 yard radius of me after each lap). And unfortunately this stuff was all I brought to hydrate with which put me in a very tough spot.

Upon further inspection

this "premium" and expensive hydration product uses complete junk ingredients. First ingredient is table sugar (seriously???) even more important (to my digestive system anyway) was the low quality protein concentrate used as part of its hyped 3to1 carb to protein ratio.
Any premium product such as this, especially a product that is being digested during athletic activity should use protein isolate. much easier and faster to digest.

complete junk, stay far far away from this stuff
