Been climbing for the last 13 years and hoping for another 30. I've done it all from the smallest boulders to the biggest walls. Lately I've been ski touring a ton for fitness and as a means to soak up the good tidings of the mountains all year long.
I used to be a road bike racer but I moved to Utah and realized it is better to be mediocre at everything here than good at one thing - so I still bike (mostly dirt) but now spend my time climbing, fishing, trail running, hiking, skiing and backpacking. If it slides on snow - I do it - no discrimination for one or two planks, free or fixed heel, hike or ride a lift.
At Backcountry, I'm the product manager for community and I'm always excited to hear your thoughts about how we can improve the experience on this site.
I was born and raised in Utah and don't plan on leaving anytime soon. I currently live in Coalville and recreate all over Utah. In the winter I'm snowboarding at The Canyons Terrain Park and Snow Kiting in the open fields of Coalville, Park City, and Heber. In the summer I hang out all over Southern Utah while Camping and Canyoneering with my friends, and climbing in the Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons in the Wasatch Mountains. I love working at Backcountry.com and also don't plan on leaving anytime soon.
As a Pittsburghian at birth, I began my outdoor foray on skis at age 2 1/2. Since then, the pursuit of the best turns has consumed me. I am willing to go the extra mile to get to places people only shake their head at (Utah provides many). I also bike, run and have as much fun as I can in this short life.
I grew up in the shadows of the Wasatch range in Salt Lake City, Utah. Practically all my buddies are East Coast transplants who came to Utah for it's bountiful snows and general gloriousness. Together we share delicious powder feasts, mountain biking, paddleboarding and a deeply rooted love for the wilds.
I love all things gear. I'm told I have a problem...
My first love is the outdoors. When I'm not fielding calls at Backcountry, I'm up hiking, skiing, camping or climbing in the mountains, or fishing in the local rivers and streams. I've been in Utah for over a year now, and spent 7 years before that in Bozeman, Montana (Still considered home!). Hit me up if you have any gear questions or want some recommendations for your next outdoor adventure!
I grew up in the mountains of Utah and Colorado, and have found myself unable to leave it. During the winter when not in school, I am all in skiing. I have been telemarking for 11 years now, and won't be stopping any time soon! I enjoy mostly Big Mountain, BC, and park. Outside of skiing, I also dig rock climbing, whitewater paddling, paddleboarding, camping, hiking- pretty much anything outdoors. I love getting out with my boyfriend, and our year-old Newfie, Camber.
Born in Montana. Grew up in Colorado. And now Utah is home. Guess you can safely assume I'm a mountain girl. In the summer you can find me on Flathead Lake waterskiing and wakeboarding. I attempted three winters in Northwest MT but got sick of skiing in the fog and slush and moved back to a state with powder! When I'm not skiing Solitude or Powder Mountain you can find me buying accessories for Backcountry.com.
I spend all my free time in the mountains and rivers of Utah. My two favorite pastimes are fly fishing and snowboarding. I also hike, camp, bike, trail run, and various other outdoor activities.
Growing up snowboarding in Maine I spent most of my time in the park. Still love park riding, but nothing beats the pow. In between storms I like to find some fresh snow on my splitboard.
As far as fly fishing, I love it all. Trout, bass, carp, rivers, streams, still water. From throwing size 24 midge dries to chucking size 1 articulated streamers.
I moved to SLC from West Virginia in summer 2009. Moved here to experiencing the "world's best snow" and found much much more! I am overwhelmed with the climbing, hiking, snowshoeing, snowboarding, and backpacking this state has to offer! In the winters, I am hunting for the white stuff, I typically ride Brighton restort and slackcountry. Looking forward to my first split board this coming winter! In the summer time, I enjoy anything outdoors, usually backpacking every weekend!

I began climbing in 2002 while living on the East coast. When I moved out west in 2008, I continued my career as a professional climbing guide and instructor in locations such as Alaska, Utah, S. America, and Mexico. I currently work for Backcountry.com and am excited to continue guiding climbs in Utah and Colorado.
Born in Moab, raised in northern Utah. I like to take advantage of everything the state has to offer, hiking, climbing, kayaking, shredding, camping, and living life to the fullest! I love roadtrips - any excuse to get into nature is a good one! All of my ideas are great, because why not?
Joint profile for my wife and I. Originally from Texas. Now based in the foothills of the Wasatch Mountain Range. The Finleys enjoy hiking & mountain biking in the summer, and skiing "the Greatest Snow on Earth" in wintertime.
I have been skiing since I was a little kid and still continue to 100+ days per year out here in Utah. During the summer months I use my mountain bike and hike/camp to stay in shape for the ski season. Let me know if you have any questions you can always give me a call 1800-409-4502 my extension is 4181 and I work Sun-Thursday 1:30pm-10:00pm
I am an avid snowboarder. I have been enjoying the powder of the Wasatch range for the past 10 years. I really enjoy a good tree run or short hike to get the untouched goods :) I dabble in park a little bit, but stay mostly in the powder any chance I get.
I love camping and love hiking and backpacking around the lakes of the Uintas.
The most important thing to understand about me is that I am a hard-worker in everything I do. Whether it be in the workplace or on the paths (both road and dirt).
Sports drives me to be the very best I can be and stay with the very best even if I don't feel 100% all the time.
If I can push for that last little bit to make them work a little harder then I have done my job
I moved here from Michigan in August 2010 for the "worlds greatest snow" It's a lot better then Michigan's lake effect I know that for sure. I love to get outdoors as much as possible. I camp, hike, fish, backpack and canoe a lot. If I had to rank my seasons, winter and fall would be at the top. There is nothing like snow and nothing like the smell of Autumn to let you know the snow is right around the corner. I use to play a lot of golf but the life of a board bum and my addiction to sweet gear doesn't leave a lot of funds to play much as of late. I love a good pizza so if you have any recommendations please let me know. I spent a year in Steamboat Springs CO. and if your ever there check out Gnarly Charlie's pizza in the Gondola circle. It's GOOD. I have a English Shepherd/Border Collie mix named Lucky and to offset the name Lucky I have an all black cat named Philly. If you have any questions or you just wanna shoot the sh*t feel free to give me a call at ext. 4420.
"I like to think of myself as a person that you need to keep your eye on or I'll wander off into the forest and forget to come back."
I'm a hero to some and a savior to the rest. Some people say that I think to highly of myself but that was before I melted their pants with the heat that radiates from my plethora of accomplishments.
I enjoy backpacking/hiking and fantasize about crashing in a plane in Siberia where I'll spectacularly survive and my sole motivation will be returning to my heartbroken wife.
I like climbing but that doesn't mean I'm very good at it. Bouldering and sport are my forte's.
I trail run as often as I can but saving the world on a daily basis usually interferes with that plan.
I also dabble in cycling, ice climbing and skiing but know almost nothing about them.
One day I'm going to find definitive proof that Sasquatch exists (not like those hillbillies from the history channel, but real substantial evidence).
"To believe in bigfoot is to hope, to dream -- to resist the crassness of mass culture and to insist that ones individuality remains untouched."
I grew up in New Hampshire, went to college at Virginia Tech, lived outside NYC for a bit, then moved west to Salt Lake City. Although my degree is in Architecture, I've been bumming around the Wasatch for the last two years trying to wrap my head around these amazing mountains. I moved out here to backcountry snowboard, so that is my main focus right now.
I love all things outdoors & try to explore all the wonderful things Utah has to offer as much as possible. And of course I always make sure I have some killer gear to make the adventure as fun as possible.
And I live for POW days. ;o)
Born and raised in So.Cal the beach was all I knew; Surfing, Sailing, Triathlons were my life. Little did I know I absolutely LOVED the mountains. I moved to Utah in 2011 to live and experience the most beautiful mountains and terrain this country has to offer. Canyons Ski resort is my backyard, and every season here is full of adventures. Good thing I work at the best company in the WORLD to help outfit me with all the greatest outdoor gear I could ask for. I'm a new mom and have one of the coolest dogs ever (Auggie the Doggie).
Born in London, moved to new York when i was young. Lived 20 minutes outside of new York city for the better part of my life. Went to west virginia university to play baseball. When that didn't work out the way I had planned I packed all my stuff and transfered to Westminster College in salt lake city.
Pretty much moved here exclusively for the skiing. Find me at Park City Mountain Resort or Snowbird. Pow days im in the backcountry somewhere.
I'm an employee of Backcountry.com and spend my time:
guiding sea kayak tours in Yellowstone Natl Park,
guiding snowshoe tours in Utah for Cottonwood Canyons Foundation,
lots and lots and lots of backpacking.
I'd love to help you out with any gear questions and I could talk ultralight until the end of time. Give me a call at 1-800-409-4502 extension 4347.
To those who have struggled with them, the mountains reveal beauties that they will not disclose to those who make no effort. That is the reward the mountains give to effort.
And it is because they have so much to give and give it so lavishly to those who will wrestle with them that men love the mountains and go back to them again and again. The mountains reserve their choice gifts for those who stand upon their summits.
-Sir Francis Younghusband
I grew up in Boise, Idaho and moved out to Salt Lake in 2008 to attend the University of Utah and to ski the lightest snow on earth.
I ski a lot. Mostly Snowbird and Park City, but I've been dabbling in the AT world a little also. Mountain Biking, Camping and Longboarding are my warmer time activities.
I am a Group/Corporate Sales Rep here at Backcountry! If you are interested in any large/bulk/custom orders, or just have specific questions about any of the gear I have reviewed, please feel free to contact me directly. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
I love to just be in the mountains. I like to look at them, touch them and smell them. Even if it's from my deck, but mostly I like it from my skis or boots or bike wheels. I have trails out of my back yard and can ski from Snowbasin to my house at the end of the day.
Originally from Haddonfield, NJ. I relocated to SLC in Feb of 2012. I love to snowboard, skateboard, and surf along with golfing, tennis, ice hockey, running, and snowshoeing. I love the outdoors and spending time in mountains and love pow! If you are a Philadelphia sports fan of any kind, lets get up!
I am at home as long as I am outside doing all the activities I live for. I started out as a long distant runner which brought me to climbing, I have been a snowboarder for the past 13 years and have decided to trade the board in this year for skis.
If I am active and outside I am as happy as I can get.
I grew up in Western Washington and moved to Utah a little over 3 years ago in order to pursue life as a professional ski bum.
I couldn't be happier with my decision although I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss being able to walk down to the water whenever I want. ( and no a giant body of smelly water full of brine shrimp does not count)
When I'm not working you can find me playing in the dirt, snow, water, or any place i don't have to worry about the way I smell.
Feel free to give me a call if you need some help! ext. 4285
I spent the first 22 years of my life in Maine indulging in all the beauty and activities the pine tree state has to offer. The lure of the big mountains brought me westward and a place with Backcountry.com in December 2009 as a phone gearhead. I am now an Assistant Supervisor here at Backcountry.com and love it. Skiing is my passion and I'm out on the hill as much as possible. I'm also taking advantage of the fly fishing, hiking, road biking, and other misc activities Utah has to offer! I hope you all are living the dream and getting outside with other life loving people, I know I am!
I grew up at the base of Little Cottonwood Canyon in Sandy, Utah and I love to ski and rock climb. During the winter I can be found at Snowbird searching for powder. I still live in the Salt Lake City area and spend all my free time in the canyons either climbing or skiing or hiking whenever I'm not working here at backcountry.com.
Tennessee Native, currently live in Salt Lake City. I completed a Northbound thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail in 2012. I grew up playing in the mountains of Tennessee, I love playing in the gigantic playground that is Utah, and I plan on playing anywhere and everywhere for a long time to come.
I was born and raised in Montana. I grew up skiing, hiking, biking, and snowmobiling. I moved to Utah in 99' to ski and go to school. I moved to AK for a season where I got certified to be a heli-ski guide in Haines (level 2 avalanche certification and my wafa medical certification) After a short time living in Spain I moved back and married my wife. We now have a son and still love to ski, hike, bike and snowmobile with the little one!
Born and raised in Salt Lake City, I grew up hiking, backpacking, climbing, kayaing and generally romping about the woods. I took a four year stint in college in Tacoma, WA where I majored in Biology with minors in both Tomfoolery and Shenanigans (Ultimate Frisbee). I'm now back in Salt Lake, playing Ultimate and romping in the mountains whenever I get a chance.
My story is not uncommon for those living in Salt Lake City. I moved here to ski/go to school. I finished up the school thing, so now I just ski, hike, bike, fly fish, backpack, surf when I can get away, and enjoy the mountains.
YO HABLO ESPANOL :)
I am a Michigander who sailed off to Salt Lake City, UT to pursue an awesome education in International Business and Spanish at the University of Utah.
Now I'm graduated and have landed at one of the best companies in Utah! I enjoy alpine/telemark skiing, hiking, camping, waterskiing, snowboarding (only once in awhile), and cruising around SLC on my road bike.
Ask for Brad C. if you want to chat with me.
Grew up in beautiful Lake Tahoe, now live in Salt Lake City. Obvious trend of not being able to move away from the mountains. Both winter and summer sports get me possibly more stoked than the recommended daily amount, but I take advantage of where I'm at every day. I will ride down any mountain, or across any lake with whatever I can get my hands on at the time. My main expertise is in all things alpine skiing, boots, skis, bindings, and specifically an expert in waxing and tuning products, but also have extensive knowledge on AT and backcountry gear. I still snowboard every year to keep up with the feel and technology of new products. I dabble in rock climbing and mountain biking in the summer and like to take camping trips as much as possible.
I've been a working for Backcountry.com since July of 2011 as a Gearhead and now in Accounts Receivable.
I spend most of my time in the winter snowboarding at resorts and do some backcountry riding and hiking.
During the rest of the year when there isn't snow on the ground I spend the majority of my time trying to outsmart fish with a fly rod and spend a good deal of time hiking and camping.
I grew up all over the place, but moving to the Canadian Rockies for high school changed everything. I moved out to Utah six years ago for school at the University of Utah and after graduating summer of 2011 I started working at Backcountry.com. Snowboarding and whitewater are definitely my passions but I also enjoy biking, hiking, backpacking, and basically anything else active in the mountains. My extension is 4093 if ya ever need help.
Recently moved from San Francisco to Park City and now working at Backcounty. Traded Tahoe for the Wasatch Mountains. Spend summers fly fishing and backpacking and winters skiing (and occasionally get talked into some cold days on the river). My wife and I live in Park City.
While a native to South Carolina and drawn to the coast, warmth, and the sunshine, I have made a change to exploring other places and I am try out mountain life for a bit. At this time I am calling Salt Lake home and enjoying the area around. When the weather is warm, you will find me camping, hiking, biking, and playing Ultimate Frisbee and when winter is back and snow has fallen I will be skiing up at snowbird or trying my hand at some snowboarding on the bunny slope.
Moved to Utah over 3 years ago for one winter, just completed my 4th and have spent 3 summers here. Love camping (car and backpacking) in the Uintas and down south. Have been to most mountains in Utah, Canyons and Park City are go tos, but like getting out elsewhere
