Is this Product the same as the Rip Stop Silk Mummy Liner?
Cocoon does have a rip-stop version of this silk liner; but, to my knowledge, the rip-stop version is only available in one color which is Tuareg. If it is not Tuareg color and not noted as rip-stop, it is just the standard silk version.
On that note, knowing there was a rip-stop version, I wanted it. I then picked up the standard version because I got a deal. I have had 0 snags or tears after a few years of use. I will have no concerns about buying a non rip-stop version again if my current liner ever dies.
Happened to use my liner again this weekend. It is a great piece of gear that I could have never imagined liking so much. I will now always own a liner. I originally purchased to protect my bag; but, I now love it because it makes my sleeping set-up much more versatile.

It's hard to tell from the pictures - what kind of closure does the sleeping bag liner have? Does it have a zipper?
Believe it or not there is no closure system on the side of the Cocoon Silk Mummy Liner. You just slide on in through the top opening. I have seen a couple of people not liking this, but the vast majority of users prefer it as it makes for comfortable sleeping even if the liner rotates a little in the night.
Agreed^^^ I prefer it how it is.
I get in my liner outside my bag first. Then after pulling the liner up, I slide into my bag.
Light and silky!

First reason for picking this product was to help keep my bag clean. I wash this liner often and it keeps my sweat, repellent, dirt and other crap from degrading or compromising the integrity of my down bag. Cleaning this is much easier than cleaning a down bag. I am sure that this will extend the life of my bag.
Second, this does in fact add some warmth and makes my bag more versatile.
I love this product. packs small, and is light. Great addition to help give a bag more leeway on warmth rating while also protecting it from dirt, sweat etc.
Warm, soft and silky
Climbed to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro with this liner in my down sleeping bag. I was plenty warm during the very cold nights on the mountain. The liner is slippery so I never got tangled up in it. There's no Velcro to caue any rough spots and it felt even better against my skin then the inside of my sleeping bag usually does. And it's a lot easier to wash than my bag is. I'll take it whenever I camp from now on.
Warm and Light
- Gender: Male
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
This liner packs down really small which is great. I bought it both to keep my bag clean and add warmth on some colder nights. This will do both things quite well. It adds at least 10 degrees of warmth. I used this with a 15 degree bag at city of rocks in low 30 degree weather, sleeping open air and was almost two warm. It is a little narrow but still comfortable.
Cocoon Silk Mummy Liner - Narrow
Good thing I'm thin. This is a narrow place to sleep. There is no pillow slip, but there is a hood. There is no opening on either side. This is like a giant silk pillow case. I like that it is is lightweight and packs really small. Those were the two most important things to me, but I would be thrilled if they had made it about 4" wider so I could move in it.

Does this liner have a pillow slip and is it enclosed on both sides?
No pillow slip.
Works as advertised
The temperature ratings were accurate and it was comfortable. Used the liner with an old Kelty mummy bag in Voyageurs National Park (Canada/Minnesota boundary waters country) back in September. Low temps at night were in the low 40s. Didn't have to deal with any extreme weather, just a little rain a couple days in. I enjoy the flexibility of the liner and I saw it as an easy way to keep my sleeping bag clean.
really small and compact
This liner is really small, really light, and feels great. I kinda get worried if it'll rip or not since it's so thin but its been fine so far.
