How to Buy Women's Road Running Shoes

Women's road running shoes offer a narrower fit, lightweight midsoles, a softer flex, and added pronation control. The biomechanics of your foot dictate the type of shoe you need: low arch/normal pronators should look for a stability shoe, flat arch/overpronators with inward roll need a motion-control or stability shoe, and high arch/supinators (or underpronaters) need a neutral shoe.

Support
Because women have wider hips than men, they have a wider Q-angle (the angle of incidence of the quad muscle relative to the kneecap). This means that women pronate slightly more than men, thus requiring a woman's shoe to offer added pronation control. Drop
Drop is a measurement of the difference in ground-to-heel and ground-to-toe height between your heel and your toe. High drop shoes will ramp your foot forward while low drop (or zero drop) shoes bring your heel and your toe level.
