With its purely casual look, you’d never guess the 686 Saville Softshell is technical at all. But it is. Thanks to 5K fabric, a powder/storm skirt, and Underarm zips, you can rock the Saville on a spring day for park sessions, then roll out afterwards with one killer jacket for the bar. A slick dual zipper lets you open up one side for casual Fridays.
Bottom Line: Money in the bank.

I just got this jacket and have not been able to take it out for a test but it looks and feels all around good. The seams are not taped but look sturdy. The material is similar to other softshells I have and the fit is good and comfortable. The sizing was a little off. On the sizing chart I fit in to an XL but I got an L and it fits perfectly. No bunching or pulling. I also got a Burton Beacon and I prefer the 686. The quality of the items is identical (seams and fabric) but the 686 is a lot more comfortable. THe Burton Beacon in XL is way too small. I have a 44 inch chest and am 6'1"
Overall I cant wait for spring to take this jacket out. If you can get it at a good price do it.

This is a good looking jacket! I picked up the gray/houndsplaid and really like the subtle yellow and pale blue threads through the plaid. The cut of this jacket is straight down from the underarms. They must've pulled in the sides for the pic to make it look more tailored than it really is. Without a pretty baggy pant, this jacket may look a little awkward. The neat-o snaps and flashy hilights are a nice touch but I have no idea what the half zip off the chin is for. Maybe I just don't know how to rock it yet....
