686 Havoc

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This jacket is another thing that shows you just cant go wrong with 686. It fits great and keeps all of the moisture out. It has a loose fit which gives you a lot of room to move. I had another 686 jacket before this one and i loved it and now this one is my new favorite jacket.

New Snowboarding Jacket

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've had my old winter active jacket for almost 10 years and it was falling a part. What I love about this jacket is it looks great, feels great but most of all it has some amazing features. My favourite features are the hook for your car keys and the in and out music access pocket. Also I am 6'1, 230lb got the XL.

Good fit.

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

So far I love this jacket. It's got a good length for me and it is the right warmth for what I like to do. Im 5'9" 175lbs and I got a small. The jacket is a sig fit so it's gonna fit a bit different than regular jackets, but I have my size small in Men's and it goes down to about mid butt. i tried a medium as well when buying the jacket and it was a nice fit too but just a tad baggy. So i got small which isn't constricting at all and i have a little room to move. Great jacket, great warmth. Loads of pockets and cool features. All around awesome jacket. I attached a pic of my in the jacket. Not a very good pic but it's all i had. I got the white color. Im the good looking one in the front.

Good fit.

Great Jacket

This is a great all-around shell for riding. Mine has plenty of pockets, and the "hand panties" are awesome. The comments about the insulation can be misleading. This is a very warm coat, that only requires a base layer underneath for riding in 20-30*F Weather (If you ride dynamic and get warm when you ride, like I do). If you are doing the BC/SC thing, the powder skirt works really well, and the hood has a great fit that doesn't obsure the peripheral. All around a great purchase!!!

So Im thinking about getting this in white or Ride's Newport for my Japan trip. Any thoughts?

Hey Nick, good question. The Ride Newport and 686 Havoc are two fairly different jackets that with their own strengths.

The Ride Newport (item# RDE0596) is a shell jacket with a high 15k waterproof rating. It lacks insulation. If you tend to run hot when you snowboard, or like layering, this is the jacket for you.

The 686 Havoc has a solid 10k waterproof rating, but the major difference is it has insulation. The 80 grams of insulation will keep you MUCH warmer than a shell will. If you run colder when you shred or want a toasty jacket, go with the Havoc.

I tend to run cold when I snowboard, and I prefer insulated jackets in winter conditions. Hope that helps you make your decision.

686 is the sh......

can't go wrong with 686. If you want to stay warm and dry all day this it. I have been wearing 686 for about 10 years now and have never had any problems. Have nit got a chance to try this jacket out yet (no snow yet) but if it is like all my other gear from 686 it is worth every penny

Awesome jacket!

This jacket is so great! It has all the bells and whistle you could every want in a jacket! It keeps you warm and dry like no other jacket. It has great vents for good air flow, and plenty of "stash" pockets on it. Overall a great jacket!
