66 North Iceland Eldgja Jacket - Men's - 2006 BCS

good jacket. remember this is the high loft power shield. waist is too big for me, although i fit into the 66 North glymur just fine. Both jackets have a sleeve length problem, being too short and they ride up your arm if you try to move your arms around. great overall jacket. It may be best if you're short. More like a casual jacket. No cinch cords anywhere, and i need it at the waist, but neck is skin tight so you don't need to worry about that.

I was highly anticipating the arrival of this jacket and was very disappointed upon receiving it. The second I opened the bag it was shipped in I realized this jacket is junk. It looks good but feels like crap. It's EXTREMELY lightweight and not much jacket for the price. You can pretty much see through it, even though it's fleece lined. The pockets aren't enclosed internally so wind can blow right through the mesh. The zipper closes as if it were a woman's coat (is this a European design or something?). Also, I ordered a large (I'm 6'1" and have a short torso), and it barely reaches my waist. In any case, I was deceived by the description and the jacket would do well as a late spring or early fall layer. I live in Northern Michigan and this jacket will not come close to sufficing this winter. Boo.

I have a few 66° North jackets and have never been let down by them. This jacket, in particular, is my favorite... it fits well and is very warm and breathable. This jacket is comparable to TNF Apex Thermal Jacket - if you are shopping for that type of jacket I highly recommend you consider this jacket. Keep in mind that the jacket is based on Euro sizes so it runs a little smaller. I wear a small in TNF, Arc'teryx, Marmot, etc. I purchased a small in this jacket. While it fits me fine [the smalls in other brands tend to be big on me] - it is smaller than the other manufacturers. If you are borderline medium/small in other brands go with a medium in this brand.
