4FRNT named its all-mountain-crushing women-specific ski the Aretha for one simple reason—it wails. As the twin sister to the Devastator, 4FRNT built the Aretha with the same all-mountain, do-it-all philosophy and implemented some lady-friendly designs so you get the most out of your ski. The Aretha features 4FRNT's Contour Core, which is designed with the weight of the core 5cm rearwards, essentially allowing you to drive your ski from the hips, so you feel like you're centered and balanced, not stuck in the backseat trying to catch up with your skis. 4FRNT also built the Aretha with Reflect Tech, which matches the camber and sidecut profiles of the ski, so you can enjoy a loose, surfy feel in powder and full-length edge grip when you tip the Aretha over on hardpack.

The Aretha's not a solo performer—most of Armada's other design stars make guest appearances. Inside the Aretha, a Mega-Block ash and beech core provides lightweight and durable pop, and a fiberglass laminate provides plenty of stability when your ski is on edge. Semi-cap construction partially wraps the topsheet around the sidewall, increasing the durability and longevity of the ski and reducing swing weight, and 4FRNT's famous Vibe Veil dampening layer reduces chatter and squirreliness, so you don't feel like you're going to get tossed when you're maching down chop or icy groomers.

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought these skis for my mom, for one reason, she kills it on the hill. She needed a versatile ski for east and west coast terrain that would provide both stability when forging through crud but also allow some atmospheric play when floating on that powder! The Aretha was it. I, myself, was able to demo these skis for a day and had a blast! The conditions were a bit cruddy and icy, but the edges gripped and I always felt in control. 4FRNT is local here in Salt Lake City, and an awesome team to work with and support!
