Description

The super-light all-mountain marauder.

The Union SL Binding strips away all excess weight without making compromises when it comes to comfort, response, and dampening. A fine-tuned flex in the highbacks and baseplate means the SL gives you plenty of power for high-speed heelside slashes, with enough tweakability up top to lock into a nosepress or poke out a big ol' tailgrab.

  • Asym/Symmetrical highback delivers reliable heelside power with an engineered flex pattern for comfort and side-to-side mobility
  • Atlas III baseplate minimizes the contact area on your board's topsheet to minimize the 'dead zone' under your bindings
  • Dual-density bushings under the baseplate dampen impact forces and improve your board's natural flex
  • Magnesium buckles are lighter and stronger than traditional aluminum
  • Open toe straps for secure grip either over the top or around the front of your boots
  • 3D-molded ankle straps for a secure fit with no pressure points
  • Quick-adjust forward lean for tool-free tweaks on the fly
  • Universal disc is compatible with all binding mounting patterns and allows fine-tuned stance adjustments

So I have a the 2011-2012 pair of sl's... They feel good all around. The only problem,"which is a big one", is every time I land with any kind of real pressure, the back foot ankle strap slips to a point of dangerous towards injury. I thought the teeth might have been worn down, but looked fine visually. I replaced them anyway to no avail. So I let the strap out a little in case it wasn't set long enough for my foot. No help... They just slip out all the time. Actually, I can't even tighten them down enough from the start. Which is a disappointing way to start each run. Seems like they could make a more solid ratcheting system for the price... Besides that, they seem like they would be perfect. Hope somebody from Union reads this.i gave it 2 stars to bring the overall rating down on the overview page.

Soft bindings, the technology has been proven because the components are the same as Drake used 10+ yrs ago. You are simply paying for the name, pure and simple. Nothing fancy.
Regret buying them again as I have now moved on after a single use.
I recommend looking for a better value and better built binding

So far I like them still getting adjusted, I think these bindings could lose about 6 parts and cut some weight and still be the same but I'm not the engineer. I hate the toe straps and buckles, I can't get them to release easily and the straps sit up weird they don't really wrap the toe. I added my burton toestraps so these they work better now. the high back is lil soft but I like that, I had some carbon fiber highbacks and they were way too hard. I give these bindings a 6/10 rating

I didn't use the bindings yet, so I will keep the review updated. But even before being installed on the board they have already two cosmetic issues - the paint which partial got off just being in the box, and the union onlay which just fell off....

Hope that the riding quality will not be similar to this.

These bindings are super amazing! They are very responsive! They are light and have a medium flex to them! They are a great all mountain binding!
